2025 Greek Heritage Night

In its 8th year, Greek Heritage Night is a fundraiser to benefit charities supported by Alpha Omega Council. The 2025 Greek Heritage Night with Boston Red Sox will pay tribute to the memory of the great Harry Agganis, nicknamed “The Golden Greek”. During the on-field ceremony, the United States Marines Corp will induct Harry Agganis – who served in the Marines from 1950 to 1951 prior to joining the Red Sox as a player in 1953 – into the Marines Sports Hall of Fame, which will be presented to his nephew, Mike Agganis and grand nephew, Greg Agganis. Harry Aggganis will be the 1st Greek-American and 2nd Red Sox player (following Red Sox legend Ted Williams) to receive this high honor.

The evening will also honor The Consul General of Greece in Boston, The Honorable Symeon Tegos, the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate through the welcoming of National Commander of the Archons and renowned Radiologist, Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, and the Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC), who will be the beneficiary of the evening. Net proceeds will benefit the Metropolis of Boston Camp Gym & Field House Project that is currently underway at MBC’s St. Methodios Faith & Heritage Center in Contoocook, New Hampshire.

“Greek Heritage Night with the Boston Red Sox has grown into a beloved tradition for the Alpha Omega Council,” said Chairperson Christos Chrisafides. “It’s an incredible opportunity to celebrate Hellenism and bring together thousands of Greek Americans from across New England for a night of community, pride and America’s favorite pastime. We’re proud to use this platform to raise awareness and funds for causes that make a real difference, while recognizing some of the exceptional individuals and organizations in our community.” He continued, “Serving as Chairperson these past few years has been an honor, building on the foundation laid by pioneers like Bill Galatis and the Boston AHEPA. And of course, this event wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous partnership and support of the Boston Red Sox organization.”

Greek Heritage Night will transform Fenway Park into an evening packed with Hellenism. Prior to the game, there will be a Heritage Pregame Ceremony on Jersey Street with members of the local Greek Community as well as Greek dance groups, such as the Metropolis of Boston Dance Group, the Sons & Daughters of Alexander the Great, and the Paradosi Dancers of Brockton, who will perform traditional Greek dances.

The festive evening will kick off with the singing of the National Anthem by an award-winning, New England native Paige Davis; the throwing of the first pitch by rising senior at Saint John's Prep Alex Sideridis; the declaring of “Play Ball!” by The Consul General of Greece in Boston Symeon Tegos’ daughter, Erietta Tegos; and the Presenting Colors of the Greek and American flags, as well as the Massachusetts State Flag and the Alpha Omega Council Flag, which will be conducted by Metropolis of Boston Dance Group members.

The Alpha Omega Council Greek Heritage Night’s planning committee includes Chairperson Christos Chrisafides, Co-Chair John Mokas, Alpha Omega Council President Harry Vlachos, Alpha Omega Council Immediate Past President Paul Tsitsopoulos, Costa Sideridis, Teddy Demetriades, Nick Rizos, George Karalis, Tom Gatzunis, John Pappas, and Kosta Alexis.

Our annual Pentecost Picnic is back in 2025. Join hundreds of other young people across London as we gather in Hyde Park to celebrate this important Feast. There will be picnic foods and drinks. This will be the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the COTY community after Easter, see old friends, and meet new ones.

The picnic is free and will take place in the northwest of Hyde Park, near the Queensway Tube stop. You are invited to attend Divine Liturgy in the morning at St. Sophia nearby, after which we will walk toward the park.
